| Employer | Integrated Spatial Solutions, Inc. |
| Client | Southern California Edison |
| Dates | 9/00 - 9/01 |
| Purpose | Until last year the GIS group at SCE had primarily delivered GIS applications to other business units via an x-windows connection between the user's desktop PC and a Unix server which hosted an ArcView application. This has been necessary because the size of the data sets that SCE uses are very resource intensive. However, SCE is now migrating to a new architecture which will make all of their GIS application available over their intranet. The new web GIS applications have been designed to mimic the functionality and appearance of the existing x-windows applications in order to ease the transition for the end user. |
| Description | These sites use ArcIMS as the core mapping engine. These sites extend the functionality of the standard ArcIMS HTML viewer with custom tools written in DHTML, JavaScript and ASP. The interface is a web site that has been customized so that it mimics the original ArcView applications as closely as possible with features such as drop down menus, tools, and buttons. |
| My Involvement | Lead ArcIMS developer, application design, tool design and programming, interface design and coding, training. |

| Tip | Site mock up: This site mock up is a series of interactive screen shots that attempt to recreate some of the actions possible in the original application. To use the site mock up, simply click on the buttons and menu items as you would in the application itself. |
